.. jets in their bike? Im running 200/205m/j with 72/75 power jets. Anyone up close to that and how far can you go on a tank? _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
195 rear (L) and 210 front (R) no power jets as i am using the JHA kit. This is on the race bike with an me made air box that the carbs sit inside no air filter. The front cylinder seems to run hotter and is most prone to seize on tracks with long straights ie Pukekohe.Oh and B needle with no4 clip pos.
Can i ask where you got those jets from? Mine nipped up running 210m/j hence why im now running power jets aswell. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
They are, I'm afraid, bored out smaller jets.
I've been let down a couple of times trying to buy them that big, my intention was to just use them for setting up and replace them with pukka jets as soon as they arrived.
That was 6 months ago....
Stephen, does Fluffy Cat's setup sound sort of familiar?
Seems like heading in my very own direction! Big mains and a lean needle.
Fluffy, are you having problems with it rich at the bottom-end, but "lapping" up the large mains? Pardon the pun Fluff's! _________________ Andy.

Yes it does sound familiar andy though even on 210m/j my bottom end still carburetted very well, i think its just the 250's that struggle with such large mains down the bottom. Did you ever think of runing the power jets fluffy? _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
The bike is a race bike and was running very well to half way in the series then i had a seize at the end of the long back straight not a bad one but enough to wreck the barrell and piston.Just ran it a bit to close i guess. That was with the air box, with some extra holes in it.Think i was on B needle no 2 clip pos.The bike was keeping up with some of the less modded zxr400s and i was overtaking them on the back straight.Life was looking good....
Anyway the bike is almost back together and I have made a huge air box.It fills the whole space behind the rear cylinder. The fuel tank is the lid and the carbs sit inside it.The settings i gave you are for my what it will need guesstimate guess.Have only ridden the bike on a short bit of road but on the new settings the bike does bog down a bit as you roll on the throttle but as you pick up speed it clears out.I think thats going to be fine as on the track you just dont go down that low .Do you think i should change to a thinner needle?.At the mo the power jets are out its another variable and at the mo my plate is full just trying to set up the JHA kit.Might try them next season would have to dyno though and see if there was an advantage. As soon as i can get the bike together and get some time off work the bike will be dynoed but the end of the series is comming up and the bike is on stands with the forks away for a rebuild. The carbs out for the airbox building.A new untested Ohlins rear shock.New EBC rear rotor and HH pads.An un tested TYGA lightened flywheel.Ah and it needs a new rear Super Corsa.Next race is non series at Taupo on the 3rd april and all my hair is starting to fall out!.
My 250 has a a real nasty flat spot if you roll on the throttle real low down.
I was going to try dropping the main jet size and put the PJs back in, hoping this would help cure the rich bottom-end, but just as I was about to do it Stephen seized his courtessy of a blocked PJ - kinda' put me back off the idea!
I'm running "C" needles, the leanest, and #38 SJ, and it's better, but still loves the big mains at the top-end. I'm using dry Ramax foam "pod" filters. Swapping the HRC X-piece (which is open to air) seems to have helped a tiny bit too. _________________ Andy.
