I'm just about to send my barrels off for re-plating but have just had a thought...The bush that supports the inner end of the power valve, it it important to remove them before the plating process and if so ...How?
Thanks in advance.

I always remove it as sometimes we had the barrels returned without the bush. They tend to forget about it and once in the acid bath its gone...
You need to find a shaft that will fit into the bush tightly, eg. an old drill bit, or new one...
Then you apply grease to "pack" the bush, then tap the shaft with a hammer to hydraulically lift the bush out of the barrel. (The shaft forces the grease underneath the bush to push it out.)
You might have to pack the bush more than once with grease.
Well I've tried and tried and tried but the little buggers wont budge. I'm using a 5.6mm drill which is a decent fit but, to be honest, I am worried that I might do some damage if i hit it too hard.

I would hope that the replaters can get it out , and yes you can damage something . I had a barrel leak water from that same bush area ,
they cut it open from the outside , welded it and returned it looking untouched in working order .
I've spoken to Langcourts today and they have assured me that they will look into what is the best thing to do about the bushes when they get my barrels. They are quite used to this sort of thing apparently.

Well they have my barrels now. Can't wait to get them back and start rebuilding Noodle. _________________ I don't mind dying...I just don't want to be there when it happens!
