hi all i know its been done before but im confused ive got an mc18 and its running fluffy at low revs and its smoking too much and covering the number plate with oil spatters
i have read the pump adjust write up i just want to double check im doing it right
im turning the throttle until the wheel on the carbs starts to move then holding it there fixed and adjusting the two stroke rotor so its just resting on the stop with no slack at all in the cable
i have given myself half mm for safety
so at idle it is just off the stop is this right many thanks
I've just checked now and it's setup as per the write up but the second mark won't line up so which method do I use? Do I ignore the second line on an mc18
Just to add to the confusion, you could have a read of <this_topic>.

yeah that is how my pump was set up and the bike ran like crap and was spitting oil out of both pipes all over the number plate and rear end i have set it up as per the other way as listed in my first post this makes the bike idle, run and ride better with only a small amount of oil out the back of the pipes
does yours over oil?? cover the number plate in black spooge?
My bike (MC18 R6k) has the oil pump set up so that the "position 2" marks line up at full throttle as per this post.
The bikes "seems" to run ok without too much oil splatter. I have not really looked into properly though I guess.
It surprises me that you notice a difference, so maybe there is something to this?
I would have thought that the two different methods of oil pump adjustment would be within about 5% of each other, but that is just an assumption.
Maybe if I get bored one day I may set the oil pump up as per the NSR-World instructions and see if there is any difference. _________________ [color=#808080][size=9]Yes,.. I too know how to waste Time and Money,...
Hmnnnn!
This is exactly the problem that I am having with own MC21.
Set up as per the the method to which Tuckerbag is referring my bike spatters oil all over the rear end and runs very lumpy low to mid throttle. It also smokes like a badly smoking thing!!!
I've tried two separate pairs of carbs, rebuilt and cleaned. Different main jets with all other jets std...still the same.
