Well, I'm pretty new here and just noticed you've added an NS section. Just to start the ball rolling, I have a couple of 400's, here's one of them. _________________ If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
I've long wanted to open this part of the forum, but haven't for a long time as I didn't really want to tread on anyone's toes! We love the NS's here, and have met a few owners recently who've expressed an interest in being under the NSR-WORLD banner as we've grown.
Hopefully we'll see some more posts and the tech stuff appear soon. I hope you'll help spread the word a bit.
Thank you for posting. _________________ Andy.

Thanks for the warm welcome Andy. I don't think you should worry about treading on toes. The more information that's available and the easier it is to find, the better it will be for the folks that own one or are considering owning one.
The 400 was probably the most compromised of all of Honda's race rep 2 strokes, yet is still a great little bike. Quite possibly the worst sounding stroker on the planet, but I love 'em just the same. If I can help anybody out, I'm happy to. If I can't, I can probably point them in the direction of someone who can. _________________ If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
Here's a pic of the NS400 I used to own... back in 1989...
Never did like the 'NSR' sticker on the fairing.
They did sound a bit odd though. This one eventually had Swarbrick silencers fitted and still sounded a bit, well, a bit naff!
Admin: I don't know why your image keeps failing to display, so I've hosted it.

They sound a little "wheezy" as stock... they are missing about 30hp and 100cc though! The racers (RS500 and NS500) certainly didn't sound odd as a triple.
The NSR250's are the same though. The airbox and standard pipes quieten them down so much. Standard, they sound a bit asthmatic! _________________ Andy.

A set of Swarbricks will improve the sound no end but you really need pipes to make them sound anything like decent. They're still a long way from sounding like the RS500 though. The engine configuration on the 400 was completely opposite to the race bike. _________________ If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
Thanks for the fix Andy, I don't know why the pictures failed either, even after an edit!
Stephen, yes, that is me in the pic on my first NSR tricycle! I was very short in my yoof!
It is a pity that Honda did not at least try and make the 400 a bit more like the real NS/RS500 though. Never mind the fact the cylinders were round the wrong way, they were not even a true 400cc! Only 387cc, 39cc more than and Yamaha 350 Powervalve!
I really, wanted one of the late, great Terry Shepherds 500cc kits but, funnily enough, I could never afford one...
theres a nice rothmans ns 400 for sale at cmc,me and my dad were having a nosey round it on sunday, just over 23 thousand miles and 5 grand _________________ ive seen more tarts than mr kipling

Welcome to NSR-WORLD.COM, Ian.
Great to see some new members and posts in the new NS section already.
I'll be looking to add some more NS goodies to the Marketplace soon. If there's anything specific I can do or help with, or if anyone has some suggestions, please feel free to let me know. _________________ Andy.
