Wire Splice Question

Wed Jul 10, 2013 1:23 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

hey hows it going everyone i have a quick question about the wire splice mod some info wil be very appreciated.... well on the tyga site the instructions for the wire splice are the same as the ones here on the tuning section but tygas instructions also mention about rerouting (GPS) 4th 5th and 6th gear to 3rd gear..... so if i do the wire splice what are the gains i get from rerouting the gears to 3rd gear? and what are the pros- cons to not doing that and just sticking to the wire splice ? I believe ive read a post on here a while back when someone brought up the wire splice and some one recommended that the GPS rerouting wasnt necessary but i dont think he posted a reason.....

Thanks

The GPS splice is outdated and unnecessary, hence why it was removed from the Tuning section several years ago.

I would imagine that the thinking behind the GPS wire splice is to do with getting around a speed limitation being applied by the PGM.
By using gear position and engine RPM data, the PGM could calculate approximate speed and hence speed-limit the machine.

Like Andy says....do the O/bu splice and forget the GPS splice.

We're just too lazy to remove that bit of info.

Thanks guys will just stick to the regular splice..... also have another question don't wanna spam the section with more posts so ill ask here..... I have an opportunity to buy some dog fight racing chambers and pipes but they are really pricey seeing the condition they are (like new), I've read around and saw theyre like one of the top comapanies In japan I was primarily interested in the tyga pipes but since I have a chance for the dog fight set I don't know .... will I get the same power increase from the 2 sets as the tyga ones are cheaper in price? Will I be paying extra just for the name of a very well know brand on my bike while I could perhaps get the same out of tyga pipes for far less ? And also does anyone know why tyga stopped selling the gp style pipes Sad ?

Most pipes perform pretty much the same, so it's down to personal preference unless you're chasing the very last HP, and then you're going to need a lot of time, money, and a dyno. Even then, the pipes that perform best for you, may not be the best for someone else's setup.

Just go for the set you want, I say! You'll have to go a long way to better the Japanese craftsmanship, but you can't beat TYGA for value for money.

Being from the US, have you looked at dieting? You can gain a ton of performance by giving up the American Diet Smile Of course when I was in England last month, I found that the English diet isn't that much better then us Americans, that and their beer is PISS WARM (learn what refrigeration is people) Wink

I liked my dog fights I had on my MC28. Were not as attractive as the TYGA SS, but made good power. As Andy said, you can't go wrong with TYGA. They are affordable, available, look good and perform very reasonable compared to the Jha, Dog Fights, Ethos stuff that is becoming unobtainium. And if you crash and damage one, you can get replacements.

In the end it's all going to come down to jetting and getting it setup right for the conditions, which will change on you. So get used to re-jetting at minimum once a day.

Dieting?!?! You calling me fat man:(!!! I'm pretty skinny as it is lol... as for the beer I'm not old enough to buy it so haven't received my beer belly yet since beer barley comes my way ... but I believe your talking about michaels post trying to shave some pounds off his bike. you must of seen our locations (Los Angeles) and thought it was the same person the guy probably lives within 5-10 miles of me hah

As for the dog fights and tygas you are right as i never actually took into consideration crashing. So tyga sounds like the right choice like you said easily replaceable... only if they still had gp pipes as well that'd be perfect
