MC21 Carb removal

Tue Sep 10, 2013 1:12 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

This might well be a muppet question, but I searched and couldn't find an answer, so...
I blew up my PGM3 - bike started running rough, got it home and No power valve movement. I have a spare PGM3 so checked it was that rather than the servo and it worked.
So I decided to pull the engine and do a thorough check over/clean and add some of the goodies I have (hrc intake rectifiers, jet kit etc). I'm ordering a manual from here, but anyways. To the question.
I've removed/disconnected things on the carbs, loosened the rubber O rings with the jubilee clips on them at the manifold. At this point is it just a good tug to get them off?
It seems right but I don't wanna just heave on it. As I said, possible muppet question but until the book arrives..

cheers
Chris

Yeah, they just pull off. I usually coerce them out with a little bit of a rocking motion.
Maybe just double check that the 2 oil lines for the 2 -stoke oil are disconnected?

thanks for that,
Having already had the gearbox full of 2t oil due to a faulty pump bearing, got the oil lines. Pump's already out.

I found a hair drier pointed at the rubbers for a few minutes helped, just warmed & softened them nicely for mine to pull off when they wouldn't budge. A little smear of grease when they go back on helps for next time, it seems her indoors don't like her hair drier smelling of petrol!
