CBR400RR vs MC21SP.....

This guy says there is no way I can catch up with him when my bike is done.So I m being tempted because I think I really own him.Im putting my bike right now and I know that with new pistons/rings right jeting and my JHAs it should be really faster than before and faster than a CBR400RR with an aftermarket can.Am I wrong?

To be totally honest it's going to be down to the rider really IMHO, between me, the monkey and a few of our friends we've owned just about all the sporty grey imports MC18,21,28, NC29,30,35, RGVs, GSXR400s etc. and they're all pretty much as fast as each other and handle better than most can exploit.

But if your both really fast I'd have thought the '21 ridden really well would be ahead of a CBR400 with just a can, but the CBR will be easier to ride fairly fast if your a bit more reserved.

When I sold my Aprilia and got a CBR400 it seemed nearly as fast riding at 70% as it did riding at 100% where as on the 2/ riding at 70% was about as quick as walking.

But this is irrelevant as your bike is probably the best sportsbike ever made (and that coming from a '28se owner!) and his is a small FireBlade.

i have both a NC29 trackbike and a MC21R i have ridden them both around cadwell park and i would say that i would lap slightly faster on my 21 with wire splice and endcans than on my maxton kitted 29 with endcan, like Fontyyy says between us we have had pretty much everything and really there is only the rider in it.
StephenRC45 can probably comment on MC18 Vs NC29 (in the wet), again it only comes own to the rider. Laughing Razz LOL

No problem.
CBR's are easy meat for a sorted 250cc - 350cc stroker.

Also, given the outstanding handling of an NSR, you should be find.

About 6 years back I was chasing Andy down on an FZR600. Straight line speed the FZR was quicker but I don't think I've ever seen a bike go around a corner as well as that MC21 did, I was left for dead.

His MC21 wat pretty much stock then so a sorted NSR should eat up a CBF and fart out the pips Razz

Huge smile, oh monkey that reminded me of some good times! still less than a week and we are at it again.

NSR v's CBR, Well me and monkey are about the same ish weight. The CBR pulls the NSR out of a corner, they just have really good drive compaired to a NSR, I think overall though going up the big hill at Cadwell the NSR juuuust had the legs on CBR.

For sure lol (sorry i remembered the Randy topic) the CBR is easyer to ride and in a semi tuned state will be as fast and easyer to ride than the nsr.

i am with the rest of the guys
i have a sorted 21
and a nc29 (cbr400) with fox rear end modded front end and light wieght wheels full race system
and round the twistys my moneys on the 21 every time with equal riders

my 21s up a few bhp on the 29 aswell

I'd say it's a pretty even match until you get into the really fast laptimes, where an NSR with properly set up suspension definitely has the edge. I was racing against a derestricted CBR400RR at the weekend, which has been dynoed at 65 RWHP, the rider was much slower than me but in the straights it seemed fairly close. Somebody told me that the CBR400RR weighs the same as an R1!!!!

All the 400's are lardy old things by todays standards. They're all in the 170kg region, which is where the Blade / R1 / GSXR currently reside.

The 400's are definitely easier to ride, due to the wide spread of power compared to the 2 stroke, but they are so much heavier that if you're on the ball you'll be in the powerband and leave the 400 out of each corner anyway.

Bottom line is that they make pretty equal power, but the NSR is 30KG lighter. Top end is dependant on gearing but is theoretically the same, whereas acceleration will always be in the lighter bikes favour.

I've ridden a handful of 29's round the track and a lot of 21's and 28's.

I'll take the smoker and day, and twice on a Sinday, sorry, Sunday.

Interestingly though, when I was at Suzuka for the 1997 8hr they run a 250/400 4hr on the Saturday before. The race was won by an F3 kitted CBR400RR, with his team mate on another F3 kitted CBR400RR. Then came a bunch of TZR SPR's followed by the struggling NSR's.

1998 was different as it was SP spec and not a diesel to be seen. TZR's swamped the podium.
