So I have 2 cylinders for my MC21 that are in brand new condition apart from both having the bridge ports cracked. The original factory honing is on them and looking good. I got them this way from the previous owner as I never ran the bike but rather bought it in 500 parts. Can the bridge port just be relieved back a bit or will I have to send them both off the be welded? I know its caused by improper heating of the bike. _________________ John 3:7
Tricky one. We've pulled motors apart with cracked bridges, that ran perfectly, and have no idea how long they've run like it before discovery. Could've been hours, could've been years!
HRC's official stance:
"You should stop using cracked cylinder. (Fig.4)"
In my experience, welded (repaired) barrels invariably crack again.
Yes, a very diplomatic reply, but experience tells me not to publicly advise here any course of action other than what Honda recommends. Too many ***holes out there, and I don't need the hassle! 🙄 _________________ Andy.
