Choice of front ends for an NS400

Mon Jan 02, 2006 9:48 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Out of choice what would you be the preferred choice..

RS250
ZXR400
RGV (M) - prob the worst choice.

I'm looking at a ZXR front end this morning - can anyone think of possible problems for a graft onto the NS ?

Thanks.

In my opinion the RS front-end would be far too soft for the weight of the NS chassis/motor, and I am not sure of both it's cost or performance effectiveness after the modification required to make it more suitable for the job.

I personall think that, if you can find one, an RVF400 NC35 front-end would be a good choice, or maybe a later USD Fireblade front-end, to keep things Honda.

Alternatively, the ZXR400 front has been a popular NSR conversion, and seems to be both relatively cheap and easy to source. The spring rate and dampening will be better suited to the weight of the NS400 too.

The other thing to bear in mind with the RS forks is that depending on which year you go with, you may not have dust seals, which will be a pain if you ride in all conditions, on the road mostly...

Go with RVF if you can

RVF400 would be the coolest and probably the best match...also some guys here in Japan upgrade with SE and SP NSR250 non-inverted forks that can be found for cheap. Check out this one with a MC21 front end....cool

Some other cool NS400 I came across a couple of years ago at a two stroke show
