MC 18 forks

Sun Dec 03, 2006 1:40 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Does anybody out there have the measurements for '89 NSR MC18 forks-from centre of wheel to top of fork leg. I have noticed my forks have a 20mm+ spacer between fork yoke and steering head adjusters! Also my forks stick up through the clamps by 27mm-is this normal or do you think the forks have being changed?

I believe the 18-28 share a 710mm fork length from the points you have queried.

I have just had a measure and mine are 715mm from centre of wheel to top of fork leg or 745mm from top of fork leg to bottom of fork leg! Does this sound about right?

The MC18 top yoke as standard has around a 20mm spacer under it above the head race lock nut but is part of the yoke. What you might find is you have a MC21 top yoke that someone has then made up a spacer for as the '21 yoke doesn't have this spacer as the head stock is taller on the '21 than the '18.
