I have noticed my forks have a 20mm+ spacer between fork yoke and steering head adjusters! Also my forks stick up through the clamps by 27mm! I had my first race meeting on saturday and it appeared to me that the steering was very sensitive which made it difficult to hold smooth lines-

Would you expect this to be the result or effect of the position of the forks in the triple clamp and why would it have a spacer between fork yoke and steering head adjusters?

Not sure what you mean by steering head adjusters, but yes having the forks protrude by 27 mm will make the bike steer very fast. Drop them down, maybe half way to 13mm and see how it feels.

I am in Timaru! My closest tracks are Levels in Timaru and Ruapuna in Christchurch!
Next outing I am looking at is Ruapuna again with the Cams club (xmas event), and they are running a moderns class so will probably go in that-(short track).

The Cams event is December 17th! There is also the Ssanyong series (National points) series, with 1 in Timaru 13th & 14th and 1 in Christchurch 20th & 21st Jan. Because it's over 2 days I will probably go in the timaru one.
With the cams the racing on the sunday so I will probably stay the saturday and sunday.
