Is Frank mitchells fortuna replica really for sale?? found this on ebay.uk tonight... i cant belive that this bike thats sitting toward the very top of the poser leauge, one of the best mc 21 around is for sale and could be bought for just 2800 pounds, it would have had many times that amount spent on it. Can someone confirm this for me?
Its probably a bargan even at the BIN price. _________________ james

This could be the third time its been sold Frank sold it, then some car dealer had it up for sale, and now its on again.
If only i had the spare cash to give it a good home.
When it keeps on being advertised as something it's not, maybe they realise it's an expensive investment?!
Don't get me wrong, it's a lovely bike, and one of the tidiest I have ever seen, but the current eBay advert is extremely misrepresentational. (Is that an actual word?!) _________________ Andy.

No, it's got Tyga's (like it says...as well!)
nor has it got
hrc internals (???)
hrc race clutch springs
(to go with the race clutch?)
engine gas flowed
(what, the whole thing?)
polished fuel flow areas inside crank case (mirror finish)
(well, I hope not, any tuner will tell you a mirror finish is not what you want)
new race power valves
(what?)
hrc race dry clutch
(stop now)
race brake levers
(please, no more)
hrc front cylinder heads
(plural?)
daytona filters
(how many?)
Here it was when Frank sold it, £3601.....and that was far too much..
I don't see what all the fuss is about, yes it's clean and has a fancy radiator and an Ohlins shock but that's it, pointless RVF forks, normal wheels.
I said on the RGV forum I'd rather have Dave Booth's (when Max350lc bought it), mine or Monkey's Rothmans SP and I stand by that. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
Could someone please tell me where can you get that carbon rear hugger similar to the one on that reb bike for a '28? _________________ Stock and really slow MC28SE Repsol Rep... =(
1) Mr. Original: Wants a totally stock NSR. Bodywork, fasteners, engine etc must be original. Might fit a set of pipes 'cos 40hp is for kids. Cleans it everyday just in case. A small scratch on the superclean Pro-Arm is an absolute disaster and requires a week off work to get over the shock.
2) Hardcore Headbanger: Would have had a 350LC 25 years ago, but they're all dead, so buys an NSR with pipes and possibly K&N's. Bodywork's generally in need of repair, but that'll be alright. Rides it hard....can't be bothered to clean it....siezes or crashes it, then leaves it parked under the house for 3 years untill the girlfriend sells it 'cos can't stand the sight of it rusting away.
3) Petrol Head: Buys an NSR in any condition. Strips it and rebuilds it with every conveivable trick part available and lots of TLC. Gives it a nice paint job. & gets it featured in magazines. Everybody from categories 2 & 3 adores it and wants it.
Frank's bike slips into category 3. It's difficult to put a price on the hours spent on a project like this, and personally I think that it's worth every penny of the BIN price if it's what you want, but you don't have the time to do it.
I know what you mean Matt. It is stunning, but buying it would, I think, leave me feeling just, well, 'hollow' somehow. Like, what do you do with/to it? It's all already been 'done'. And there'd be that feeling that it's only going to degrade as you use it.
I'm the same with new bikes though. I just can't imagine buying a brand new bike and watching it slowly 'rot' over time. Much more satisfying to buy something older and improve it. There's a real sense of optimism and achievement in that.
I totally agree with you matt, for some without the endless time or budget i think it would be a very satisfying bike, maybe note quite as satisfying as stephens F3, (its my computer screen saver and back round by the way) but still i wouldnt say no to it..... _________________ Hesitation is Fatal!!
