MC28 Chambers..Restriced?

Fri Feb 09, 2007 3:42 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

hi guys, i just took of my chambers and cooked em until there was smoke no more, the bike ahd done 22k and i thought it was time,
now there at the electroplater to be re-coated a nice gold type color,

anyway, i read on here that they have restrictors in the headers,

i couldnt see anything at all in there, infact i had to stick tubes down there
to reposition them when burning them out, , also, i heard the cans are restrictive, but when i look down them u can see there straight through, exept a curve where the tip bends off ,,,

im i crazy?

I'm certainly not the expert here, but I do think the -28 has baffels inside the chambers. The only way to get them out is to cut the chambers open. There was a thread on this about a year ago. I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong.

No the 28 has restricters at the headers. They cut the area by about 30% and are a pain to grind out as they're made out of 'cheese metal TM' which clogs up grinding stones. A RH 21 pipe will fir the 28 which would get rid of it and the LH 21 needs to be modded where it passes the single sider. Not a difficult job and the 21 pipes are pretty much free...

The std pipes I got with mine are like rodney007's, no visable restriction at all, with them on (instead of the Tygas) it goes pretty well and held it's own in the fast group at Donington even with the airbox holes covered up as well (with gaffa tape, I got black flagged for noise with them uncovered Rolling Eyes ).

With an HRC card, modded airbox, race cans and the std (unrestricted) pipes on, the Fontyyy butt dyno guestimate would be around 55bhp but with better midrange than with the Tyga pipes.
It was probably a jet size or two too rich but as it was just for a day I didn't bother sorting it out.
