Ahhh, the pleasures of owning a stroker and being at the race track.
I took took the 300 up to Bira circuit on Sunday morning for a bit of a shake down with it's latest bits and bobs: RS250 straight cut primary gears and complete clutch, RS250 ignition rotor and higher comp inserts for the VHM heads.
Wasn't 100% sure where to start, so threw some big jets in there and fired the old nail up. Tad rich methinks, as thick blue smoke filled the pit lane. Smelled good though on the fruity mix of avgas and A747.
Well, matey in the pit next door started moaning about stinky two strokes and the smell and the noise blah blah blah. I said look mate, it's a race track and this is a race bike so if you don't like it move somewhere else.
He kept on whining, but eventually moved when I said that he didn't hear me complaining about his noisy, smelly four stroke R1, or the fact that his pickup had been running all morning so that he could keep his unfit carcass cool in the air con.
He then had the cheek to tell me to get a "real" bike
At that point I just laughed and held the bike at 12,000rpm right in his face.
Some people have no idea
He may have a "real" bike (a very rare Yamaha R1, only ever seen a million of them), but somehow my little noisy smelly weed whacking buzz box was able to lap 15 seconds a lap faster than his Superbike. Funny that
I think the quote of the day was from Graham (High Side Tours): "I don't know how you have the patience with those bloody two strokes"........dunno what he meant as it was only the second time that morning that I'd pulled the heads off.
You tell 'em Matt!! Only one of my buddies has a clue about my NSR. Everybody else considers it a starter bike. But when I had it at the track they couldn't stop drooling over it. _________________ james

They all secretly want one....a stroker that is.....but haven't got the first idea have to ride a small capacity two stroke. Thjat's why they have to rely on "real" bike horse power. If they rode my bike (which they can't touch, let alone ride) they'd go even slower than they are already.
I passed some dude (another R1....yawn) coming out of the final corner, and had so much more corner speed that it took the whole length of the chute for him to pass me back. And even then I only saw his front wheel for a split second as he hit the brakes......about 50m before I did. Never saw him again.
I admire anyone who'll get out there on the track and give it a go, no matter how steady they ride, but please don't start spouting off about real bikes and what have you. Save that for the pub when you're with your other "real" bike mates 'cos I won't be there.

No, cos you'll be curled up under the bush in your back garden with the remains of a Soi Diamond kebab on your T-shirt! _________________ Andy.

Yeah, come on Granty, get your facts right before accusing me. Times and places...times and places....Your hollow account of the evening's entertainment wouldn't stand up in any court of law.
I can remember the whole evening...maybe...right up until the point where I said, alright mate, meet you at 9pm.
Hey Faybo. Kebabs can be found around the Soi Diamond area, and on my shirt apparently.
What's this Boys Town you speak of? Never heard of it!
Maybe Scott V knows? As far as I'm aware there's directions to it found on the inside of a Tequila bottle. Not necessarily inside the first bottle though.

Nearly killed me one of them did (nothing to do with the bottle of Sang Som or dozen+ beers), damn nice there and then though.
Funny, people at UK trackdays love strokers and don't seem to mind being passed by them, it's almost as if they think that normal rules don't apply. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
i get people taking the piss about my little bike suck as when i had the mc16 and my new old CBR 400 aero they think i should get a bigger bike newer bike for some reason.
all i know is im not left behind when i ride with them and that my lil 50cc monkey bike and the mz50cc get more attention than there bikes.
i tried riding one of the rare R1's a while back (my mates) and i dont see the point in them i couldnt use all the power at any time and half of it some of the time.
around where i live the two stroke 250's and the 400/600's are the best for the twisty roads.
btw my mate died last week on the R1 on a road he rode on every day for 15 years. left a 200 yard mark from the engine cases on the road before hitting a wall. _________________ Honda nc23 CBR400 AERO 1986, 1990 honda NC23 Tri-Arm, 1987VFR400 NC24 Rothmans Rep, NSR250 MC16 1987, CL250s 1983. Matt, you do need to get a real bike. A real race bike that is Stop trying to make your NSR into an RS and just get the RS
I do know what your talking about in regards to the 4-stroke vs 2-stroke at the track. I always get the pleasure of showing the liter bikes up as I pass them up and they can't seem to get by my wee little two fiddy?
it's even better when some guy on an MV V4 comes over to tell me he was amazed at how much power that little bike makes and how he couldnt even get me in the straights
