MY MC21 is now having issues starting. It usually takes me a while anyway if it sits for a few weeks (petcock off) but on this colder morning (~50 deg F), it just wouldn't crank over. I decided to just try and ride/bump start the thing down a slight hill but discovered that the clutch felt like it froze. It feels like its stuck in the engaged position regardless of me pulling in the lever. What's weird is that even if I have the bike in nuetral, it still won't kick over. So...
Is the clutch being stuck common for sitting for weeks while cold?
Would this prevent me from starting even if in neutral?
Is there an easy way to "unstuck" the clutch plates without popping off the cover?
Just looking for some tips before I replace the clutch plates which could be worn anyway...
Thanks,
Jae
By the way, my other 2-smokes all seem to not start/run very easily when "colder" outside. But not sure if this is more from sitting or just temp.
Jeez, it's just 50 degrees and in the garage...
im not sure if this clutch issue is normal on NSRs my 18 will not freewheel easily when im trying to bump start it, try putting some petrol on one of the heads the front head is more accessible remove the sparky and put some petrol put it back and whola! _________________

Thanks! I'll check the floats to be sure but I don't think they're stuck. I did just remember that my petcock does drip a little so if there's any flooding, that would be a root cause. Provided my floats are good, would a leaky petcock still cause the floats to overfill? I can always just plug the tank up over the winter if that's the case. And as far as the clutch, I was luckily given a new pack of EBC plates with the bike and the directions to swap from this site look pretty easy so that's no problem.
