Does the factory lever have a bush or something pressed into it that can be replaced? The lever on my bike has a large amount of slop in it which isnt ideal for shifting purposes.
There's a phosphor bronze bush in both brake and gear shift pedals that can be replaced (not available as a separate part from Honda), but the levers run on the footpeg "stubs" which can also wear, so they may need replacing too.
The rod-end ball joints wear, as does the knuckle, and the shifter shaft splines. The knuckle can often be tightened up a little, but once the ball joints wear there is nothing you can do but replace them.
It's common on most bikes their age but it can be sorted pretty easily. _________________ Andy.
