Maybe, maybe not, no really, that's about as sure as anyone can say.

Congrats on the bike. Ive got the same one. Take the pipes off and grind out the washers at the inlet as well. Very Happy

Doh! Miss read the post, yes you can swap just the cans, virtually nothing in it, it'll be fine. Grind the washers out? Yes there's power to be had there, there is also maybe fueling issues.

What Fontyyy is (quite rightly) trying to say is, regardless of what anyone tells you, check the jetting after EVERY modification.

It's also a very good idea to check the jetting even if you AREN'T modifying anything yet. There's no way to be absolutely sure that the bike hasn't been previously modified and returned to (virtually) stock before you took ownership. Just make sure the carb settings are as Honda intended.

Cans usually require no changes, but grinding the washers out of the MC28 headers can make a huge difference to the chamber's efficiency (in relative terms).

There's no definitive setting for a given modification. In fact, by the nature of the way a 2-stroke works when in its effective RPM range, a particular setting at one time and/or location can be totally wrong for another time and/or location. A standard bike, while not making particularly exciting power, is well within all safety zones.
