I've gravitated to NSR World via RD, KR1 and RGV/RS forums seeking out a nice 250 stroker for the street. I'll be looking to run derestricted but won't be worried too much about the last few fractions of a horespower.
I'm also hoping that any purchase will prove to be a good(ish) investment and give me most of my money back should I choose to sell at some point.
Could any of the forum members here offer me any potentially useful advice on:
(a) MC21 versus MC28
(b) What to look out for - in general terms and
(c) In physical size terms will I get reasonably comfortable on an NSR - I'm 5' 10" and 'pleasantly plump' - 36" waist
(d) Am I as a married man with two young children completely mad to even think about a potentially tempermental race-bred two-stroke? _________________ 54x54 those were the days!
a; No contest power wise, a stock "derestricted" mc21 will give 58-60 bhp for nothing, an mc28 in the same spec will probably make 52-53 at best. mc28's are getting real expensive now too, but may sell easier if you decide to sell.
b; Just normal stuff really, but they aren't hard to fix, don't panic too much as long as it's straight and starts, even a total lemon can't be that bad.
c; I'm a spot under 6ft tall, Andy is similarly sized, we fit on them.
d; You're a married man with children, of course you're mad. Honestly I don't know why people worry, these bikes are not hard to fix. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
what are you being like that for now mick is it because of your tom thumb size is worried about being sucked into them open carbs of yours or the fact you have problems reaching the floor when you stop
To be fair everything a PGMIII does a PGMII does at least as well or better,
mc18 r2j, one wire unplugged, 4 holes in the airbox, everything else absolutely stock, 62 bhp every time.
If you're going to transplant an entire loom and electrics you may as well take a good one.
After that, power, relation to the RS, ease of restriction, weight etc. they just got worse and worse and worse.
Not that I care, for me as a road bike it HAS to be a '28 and that includes a smartcard, preferably a stock one. I loved them before I even saw one, if I could have one bike in the world it would be a fairly stock mc28sp, if it only makes 40 horse, well, it only makes 40 horse and even that's more than enough to get you banned.
As for race action I note at Cadwell it's just PGMIV's again, after Tom's brief PGMIII interlude normal service is resumed, me towards the rear, Dan towards the front _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
