Help unlock my Steering Lock

Tue Oct 14, 2008 12:58 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

While I wait for my new PGM IV card I have been trying to learn about my MC28 and it's features. I was trying to understand the steering lock when I locked it. Now I can't seem to unlock it. Whats the trick. I've tried everything that seems logical but nothing works. Also, whats the purpose? Security? If so, I can attest that it works, if I was stealing this bike, I'd be screwed!

You're buggered! Laughing

Because even if you take the tank off, and then try to unbolt the steering lock assembly, it's still looped around the stem! You can't even just drop the triples out!

You can of course break it (easier said than done too!), but I'd wait for the new card! Smile

if your really desperate then I am sure there must be a way of tracing the wiring loom and putting a positive power to the correct wire...surely its just a solenoid or similar that need power to release?

Not saying its correct or that I know which wire....but it seems to make sense to me, if the bike is in a garage and secure and you dont need to move it then I would just wait....its even safer now! Smile

If not then at least Honda have done a good job and made the steering lock difficult to break! Twisted Evil

Yes, you can pop the steering lock without the key card.

Don't have my thing here at the office, but Its a simple plug in. 12V in and then touch wire to earth. Or something like that.

I won't post it here for obvious security reasons, so you'll have to work it out. It can be done.

Like most things it was borne out of necessity. Some idiot (I'll blame Paul, but was probably me) put on the lock when we had no card for the PGMIV, so had to come up with something.
