Not sure what I've bought?

Wed Dec 17, 2008 9:25 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hey there guys I've just bought a cheap little track bike but was wondering if someone could help me with identifying what parts have been modified and which are standard.

So far I have noticed -
Yoshimura rearsets.
Engine covers have "honda racing" on them rather than just honda.
Rear swing arm is different than in pictures I have seen.

Embarassed
Also I dont know how to put pictures up? Confused

On the left of the page, look at the "History" and "Specifications". That will give you an idea.

To post a picture you need to host it on a picture server such as http://imageshack.us/ or http://www.flickr.com/ and then link to it. Most image hosting sites provide a unique forum link code for each image you upload.

MC16.

Rear shock isn't MC16 though, and the rear-sets are from Thailand! Maybe even from me about 2 years ago! LOL

You can't tell about anything else (ie. barrels/carbs etc.) until you take it apart a bit... or put it on a dyno! MC16 will make about 50~52hp in good condition whereas a delimited MC18 will make 10hp more.

The bodywork (seat) appears to be fairly well done, making it look a little more modern than you would think for a 21 year old bike. Lots of room for improvement though, and a good little project.

I'm sure there's plenty of people who will be interested to find out what the shock is, and how it performs.

All the wet clutch NSR's have Honda Racing cast right across the cover.

An MC16 will probably make more as a complete bike then as parts. There is nothing on an MC16 that can either upgrade another model or substitute a part on another model to give similar performance. If it were an MC18 then it may be a different story, as many parts are good for 3 different models.

Waste of another good bike if it's broken. Rolling Eyes
