Flooding........

Thu Nov 25, 2004 3:47 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

The bike is an NSR 250 SP-(1992)
It is an ex race/track bike recently imported.
When starting from cold in the morning the is a large pool of petrol/oil mix under the bike.(oil pump has been removed). This is even though petrol tap is off.The left hand pipe throws out a lot of crud on starting....this seems to be unburnt petrol/mix.
Why are carbs not restricting flow? They have been fully cleaned and rebuilt.
Float heights and ok........
Once running it runs like a dream.
Please help.

Sounds like a sticking float valve, but you say it happens with the fuel tap off, so it must be both crap in the tap and a sticking float valve, probably caused by the bike standing for a long time.

Pre-mix is much more likely to cause problems when left in a tank than straight fuel.

Pull the carbs off and thoroughly clean them again. Maybe a soak overnight in carb cleaner or even Coca-Cola! (You'd be amazed what that stuff shifts... and just think what it does to your insides!!Smile) Then unscrew the fuel tap and clean it best you can. The easiest way to test the tap is to hold the fuel tank off the bike and turn the tap on/off - whilst hoding it over a bucket, not the gutter, of course!! ;)

Andy.

It is a little known fact that Rats like petrol/2 stroke mix.It therefore helps control rats and helps stop plagues etc by not doing it in the gutter......

Incidentley, this guy bought his bike from the same person I did, they were even on the same ship at the same time! BEWARE OF HIM!!!! He advertises mint SP's etc on ebay, closes the auction early for what seems to be a good cash deal then sends you a bag of sh1te! He's even got some on ebay now! His user ID is nicotine250

He advertises them from Canada then the bikes come from Hong Kong. Maybe the site admin can post up a warning in due course once myself and elz7173 maybe get the ball rolling on some Police work!

Oh dear! Sounds like "Ken's" struck again!

We believe this trader also goes by the names "Trade'n'Deal", "Kennobike", and possibly "MyNSR.com" or "Aceport.com".

A search for "nicotine250" on this very forum would've yeilded this result.

Andy.

Oh dear Sad Looks like we got well shafted! The guy I was dealing with and indeed elz7173 is called "Nick" The bank details in that other post are the very same ones except the name which was Wai Ki Chiu.

Im going to the local Police to see if there is any hope for us, or indeed hope for stopping him ripping others off!

Yep.....looks like I have been shafted. The bike is not worth what I paid, athough Colin seems to have got a worse deal than me.
Please let this be a lesson to others.I tend to trust people but the world does not work that way.
Oh by the way......can anyone lend me £200K-I will pay it back next week........honest.
On a serious note if anyone else has been shafted by this guy please let either myself or Colin in Belfast know.We may be able to chip in for a hit man in Canada, (Joke Officer). The more info. we have the better chance of avoiding rip offs like this in the future.

If you guys were to send emails/faxes explaining the link to his ISP, they might well take his site down. they are very sketchy about fraud allegations..
