MC21 rear shock

Sun Mar 22, 2009 6:18 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi guys,
Will a MC21 SE shock (no reservoir) fit into a MC16? Just found one for sale on an auction.
Also are those shocks rebuild-able?
Cheers
Blair

Hi there ,

I doubt that the rear shock is from a se , if i am correct all the se models have adjustable rear shocks with a resevoir . It may be from a R model.
Cheers

I just put a CBR600RR rear shock into project wet dog(MC18) . Wasn't too much hassle either.

Had to modify the subframe slightly to except the resevoir pot but the fireblade shock has a rearward mounted pot. I understand that there can be an issue with undertray clearance if you run the standard undertray.

You can see more on the members builds section under Project wet Dog

Just to add the CBR shock top and bottom mount width were near indentical , just had to sleeve the top frame mount holes from 12mm to 10mm if i remember right. Shock is 5mm longer than standard but i am running a MC21 17inch rear so all goes back to about standard MC18 geometery.

Man that's one sweet MC21.
So will the longer shock affect my geometry? Or will I just lower the ride height with the pre-load?

you can adjust the ride height to suit mate, and why not become a member so you could see the full story and spec of my sp and other members projects Wink and nearly forgot both shock fittings need new spacers to made up with bigger holes as the nsr bolts are thicker Very Happy
