I have a 21 SP that is basically stock. With the chain tension adjusted properly, and the transmission in gear, it seems that the bike can rock excessively forward and backwards (compared to some other bikes).
Is there a specification for how many degrees the output shaft should normally be able to rotate when in gear? Mine seems to have the same amount of (excessive?)play, irrespective of which gear is engaged.
It could be worked out I'm sure but the end result would depend on final gearing of the bike so might be a little pointless.
Mine do tend to rock forward and back a fair amount when in gear. I've never worried about it to be honest. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
perhaps the front sproket is worn, i replaced the front one on mine recently, gear teeth were fine but the the internal ones were well wornand there was loads of play, new sproket on and all is perfect
There is normaly very little backlash (slop to you) in the NSR's to the point where often they are hard to get on.
I've never seen a clutch gear or primary gear worn on one but there is always I first I guess. _________________ If I have to take the carbs off once more...
Thanks for your input. I'll be looking more carefully at the splines on the front sprocket/output shaft and the clutch assembly where it mates to the main shaft. Will follow up later if I find anything.
