Hay all. I jest finished converting my mc21 wet clutch to a dry clutch. also changed the bearings on the gear plate seal. After i put the whole thing together i noticed the gear box movement is very stiff. before I put the gear assembly into the engine i checked for free play and smoothness and It all looked ok. ounce I put gearbox in and torqued it down i found it to be stiff and hard to get moving. Shifting is the same where i only got it in 1 neutral and 2nd gear. I got the engine started but only in neutral. I'm thinking it needs like a break in procedure. Maybe running it in first gear might get it to loosen up. But before i do that want to get you guys input first.
Also jest got the frame powdercoated grey. will post pic when done.
thanks in advance.
I had the same issue with an engine i bought from a supplier who has since..... lets say moved on, anyway found it to be a warped/cracked base plate and after rebuilding with a new plate all was good. so basically, pull it apart and check it out and then rebuild to spec.
so I opened her up again to take a look and found the source of the problem. It was the bearing for the counter shaft on the base plate side. I changed it with a bearing I got at a bearing store. The dimensions were right but they gave me one that was a little bit wide hens it sandwiched the counter shaft. I can only blame my self on this one for not checking and presuming it was the right size.
So what did I learn? presumption is the mother of all f*@%ups.
Also is a mc28 brake roter backwards compatible with a mc21. Found a killer deal for a 96 front disks and want to put on my 92,
All (normal road) NSR250 brake discs (rotors) are basically the same. _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread

In future can you ask separate questions on separate threads please. Someone could ask this very same question tomorrow because they would never think to look in a gearbox thread for the answer!
It's instances such as this that can make searches (that aren't the best with phpbb anyway) all the more harder to narrow down as they fragment the results. _________________ Andy.
