I did the wire splice last night and came home from work today to try the bike out. Unfortunatly my bike didn't go faster, it just wouldn't start at all.
I used bullet connector so i could reverse the splice easily. When I swapped back it still wouldn't start.
Anyone had this problem before?
Need help.
Cheers.
DON'T WORRY EVERYONE. PROBLEM FIXED. I BLEW A FUSE AND HAVE REPLACED IT. Only problem now is it just started raining so no ride till tomorrow.
No but the fuse box has no cover and found some copper filings in there (possibly bridging between main and ignition fuse). And when I connected the battery I also shorted it on the frame. Not sure which part caused it to blow the ignition fuse but all fixed now.
Going for a test run in about an hour so I'm all excited.
I'm Jim from Thailand.
Did you do the jetting after wire splicing?
I'm also thinking about doing wire splice but wondering if re-jetting is required? I have a shop that can do all the maintenance for my bike, but not very sure for the tuning. So I'm quite reluctant.
But if wire splicing is all it needs, I will try soon. Please share with me your thought.
You should check the jetting after ANY modification, however a change is not always needed with just the wiresplice. You should modify the airbox at the same time though, else it will still be strangled.

Thanks a lot Andy for your advice.
So now I know that the most I can get is 45 horses. No reliable person around here to help me for jetting
The mechanic I know doesn't feel like messing with the jetting... haha..he doesn't want to break my bike.
Will my engine run too lean and prone to knock if I do wiresplice and add 4 of 20mm holes?
By the way, sorry that I'm not that good at English.
Would you mind explain me what do you mean by "Only a fool wouldn't do a plug chop after releasing 15hp+!" please? Very curious about it.
It means "You should check the jetting after ANY modification...".
I would advise going up on the main jets a few of sizes once you open the airbox up, and then come back down slowly, a step at a time if it feels a bit flat.
There's no such thing as a "full power" setting for the NSR as they were only ever sold for the (restricted) Japanese market, so we cannot advise specific carburettor settings. Jet size discussion is not allowed in the public forums for this very reason.
There is a section in the Members Area for jetting discussion. _________________ Andy.

Hi maximum,
I'm in Chonburi. Nice to know you.
I just got this MC21 SP from Chaingmai 3 months ago.
Will need lots of advice from you and folks here.
Would you let me know your contact via jim_996@hotmail.com?
It's been a while but I have more info on the whole "wire splice and seizure" thing.
I pulled the cylinders off and found out that the top piston seized because...
1. The motor is 18 years old
2. Had original pistons
3. Had home made base gasket (they forgot to cut out the holes for water flow).
4. Was running slightly lean
5. Was being thrashed by an absolute dickhead
32. Wire splice
By the look of pistons it has been running lean for quite a while.
My rebuild kit is on its way from jap4 and will be sending the cylinders away next week to be cleaned up.
Concerning statement #3; no holes necessary, they weren't forgotten.
Concerning statement #5; "Was being thrashed by an absolute dickhead" Is there another way to ride an NSR? Sounds like normal NSR protocol
