You can use MC21 HRC needles, although the profiles aren't perfect for the R2J. You will need the HRC emulsion tubes too, and the HRC needle holders.
Quite how you'll get on with the air correction is another matter. It will probably take a lot of fiddling to get it to run cleanly from idle to redline. _________________ Andy.

Is it safe to guess, that known MJ sizes will not work with HRC needles, on the specific carbs?
I need to start from somewhere .(jettingwise)
Deeper searches in the sea of Japanese NSR blogs, show that 16012-KV3-305 are compatible. If they save me the risk of a seized bike, I may invest in a set.
There is another alternative here - http://www.kenso-bakudan.co.jp/parts/bakudan/stage2/h50-250on.html dont know what there like.
i have a mc18 running hrc needles and emulsion tubes runs good with them . i may have spare needles and holders soon but you need emulsion tubes to run them.
Dexter i think the link that provide Nsrdownunder is great... Even you don't find the original needles you can use those from the Japan site... Looks great...!!! I may even buy some for my MC28 to test them.... If i find the time of cource...
Thanks downunder. Seems like a good alternative.
Correct me if I m wrong but the kit doesn't seem to offer needleholders. Am I to use the existing ones?
I thought that needle and needleholder must always be used as a pair, something like sprockets and chain...
