Washers beneath of the needles

Mon Nov 16, 2009 10:30 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi,

I was installing the HRC Carb kit on my MC28 and I came up with something I didn't know what to do... Beneath of the stock needles there are one small washer... Do I have to put these washers again with the HRC needles or do I have to remove them...? Does anyone know what I have to do...? What do you do guys...?

Cheers
Michael

Hello Michael

If you mean the washers I think you mean, then if placed under the needle clip it will richen the mixture by half a position. They are good for fine tuning. When setting carbureation it is best to start rich (safe) and work backward. The washer under the needle is safer (richer) than no washer at all.

Cheers

Dan

Hi Dan,

Yes I was talking about those washers... I thought the washers were there to protect either the needles or the slides from wear... Yes probably when putting the washers is like putting the clip one position up and the mixture is richer...

Thanks Dan for your reply

I translate the part of the HRC set up manual which is referred to the carbs and says clearly that the washers MUST used also for the HRC needles...
