NSR250 need help for Renovation...

Mon Jan 11, 2010 10:34 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hello everybody!

My name is John and I am from Greece. First of all I would like to congratulate you for a well organised site! Very Happy Many info where obtained even from my first visit!

I recently owned a NSR 250 from a friend who had the bike "sleeping" for about 8 years....

As you will see from the pictures, its condition is pretty good if you overlook the dust and the spider nests.
What I want to ask you is what I must see/check/change in order to make it running again. The bike had no problem until the last day it was parked so I guess no mechanical problem exists.

Besides a good outside cleaning I intend to clean the carb and check for leakings. A friend told me that because of the years, the timing of the engine must be set again, is that true?

And finally (for now) could someone tell what year and model is the bike so I can look at the correct on-line manual(if you can see it from the pics). It says MC18 as you can see. Any other pictures, info needed from the bike I can gladly post! Very Happy

Thank you in advance! Very Happy

Nice to see another 2J hopefully back on the road soon!

Might be worth finding out if Dexter (John) is near you as he's another 2J in Greece.

As you'll have seen if you've been reading this forum there are plenty of experience guys here. Some are even mechanics (but not me!)
