My piston has a boo boo

These are a few pictures of my piston after a little detonation at 180 kph.

I had to use a die-grinder to get the pin out. The animal fur was not a result of the seizure.

Obviously all this is fixed now, just thought I would share them.

Gutted man. What caused it to do that?

Ditto what Neal said. That looked like a piston that I had when head gasket allowed some coolant to get into the combustion chamber.

On those other photos of your bike I'm glad I didn't see all the bodywork trashed. At 180 clicks, that could have been disasterous!

Cold motor, wrong plugs, cheap oil and running lean.

I hadn't changed anything on the bike from when I bought it. Just assumed the bloke I bought it off had set it up correctly as he said he did.

And yes, the coolant did leak into the combustion chamber on detonation.

Oh well.

That's right.

I should never have trusted the previous owner. He lied from start to finish.

I have been a good boy since though. I have fixed all his f-up's. It runs sweet now.

Just have to fix the damage my son did when he tipped it over now.

Yeah, you have redeemed yourself since!

I have no excuses for my bad parenting over the years, other than learning the hard way! Embarassed

In all honesty, I am glad I found out the hard way. It was expensive, But I know so much more about the best bike in the world. I loved ever minute of tinkering with it.
