How to change oil in an MC-28 dry clutch SP

Sat Jun 06, 2009 10:00 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi everyone,

I haven't changed the transmission oil in my MC28 SP dry clutch in a long time, and I am about to change it. I was wondering where is the drain bolt, because I cannot see it under the engine. There are some golden bolts that don't look like drain bolts. In addition how much oil do I put in?

Thank you very much!

Well I found it Smile It is on the right side, under the clutch cover. It also takes 0.7lt.

Thanks,

judging by this I have just found in the workshop

"G.R.O. is an advanced synthetic formulation motor cycle gear-box oil covering the 10w/40 or 75w/90 viscosity range."

I should be getting 10/40

for the mc28 sp, i've been running synthetic. what do most of you run, semi-synth, full, mineral?

Just filled my SP gearbox with Castrol bike oil 10w/30 from Halfords.

Same colour as TTS so I liked it a lot. Wink

Just be careful quoting viscositys. 10w/40 is an engine oil, 75w/90 is a gear oil. They are measured on completly different scales.
A 10 weight gear oil is sh*t loads lighter than a 10 weight engine oil.

I know 99 percent of people are aware of this, but that leaves 1 percent that dont.

I like thr Motul 300 gear oil. It's a 75w90 synth oil.

For the 2-strokes, I have always gone with a full gear oil, over an engine oil.

Last time I checked my gear oil it was the same colour as tts. Only problem was that the stuff I put in the gearbox was a honey colour.

Bloody oil pump seal Evil or Very Mad
