MC18 engine compatability

Thu Nov 18, 2010 8:25 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

I'm trying to find spares for my R2/4J mc18.

Will the bottom ends of a RK5 or RK6 work with the R2/4J wire harness?
I understand that there are differences in the ignitiion, but just trying to see if other model mc18 engines will work with what I have.

I have searched and have almost read / skimmed all the 245 threads in the discussion forum and don't remember coming across any info.

I can't see any reason why there would be a problem. There may be a slight difference with the stator or pickup plugs but as you have the old plugs you'd be able to fix that anyway.

Yeh I agree....I put an MC21 bottom end into a PGM1 88 NSR and I remember using the MC18R2 pick ups and flywheel so worth checking with the R5/R6.

I think I also had to find the neutral wire within the GPS but I'm not sure you will have to deal with this using the R5/6 PGM2?

Correct, the GPS is only on the mc21, all other NSR road loom's just have a neutral sensor.
