Fooling the PGM3 to run just 1 map

If using a non GPS motor can the PGM3 be fooled into thinking its always in one gear by earthing out the corresponding gps wire?

You can splice the wires for all the gears i to one. It is an alternative to delimiting. I know it can be donw but i have no idea which wires to work with.

So is it as simple as earthing the 3rd gear wire for example?

Im using a 18 motor in a 21 so have no GPS
