Last thing i need is fork oil. I rebuilt my SP forks today. Is pouring the oil in from the top the best way to do it? Then pump it a few times? Also how many ml od oil do they take. Thanks

Fork settings are very subjective, but standard, as per Honda, for the MC21SE/SP:

Oil level: 160mm
Total capacity: 384cc
Oil type: ATF

Additionally, the spring free length should be checked to ensure they are not worn:

Spring free length: 295mm
Service limit: 289.1mm

As I say, it's subjective, and we almost always use 12.5w Rockoil SVI.

After topping up the forks, as you say, [very] gently compress and release them a few times, before taking the level measurement.

In all honesty, suspension isn't really my strong point. Luckily I will get mine done by "Suspension Steve" at HEL Suspension when my restoration gets to that point! Very Happy

It may be a little while now, due to the Coronavirus, but it's underway!

I will be trying to secure a discount with Suspension Steve for Ti Members at some point. He's ex K-tech and also fully Öhlins certified.

HEL Suspension will have its own section on the HEL Performance website soon. There's already a dedicated in-house HEL Suspension workshop, and Steve provides support for a number of BSB teams.

Going on what I've seen from some of the "restored" bikes that came into Performance Engineering, yes! Laughing
