MC28 Forks - two things - Identify and Peace Talks

Tue May 26, 2020 5:46 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi

It seems from an earlier round of discussion that I have MC28 forks fitted to my MC21.

1.
Can anyone tell me the easy way of identifying R, SE & SP forks?
My forks have a preload adjuster and a little brass damping adjuster (rebound?) in the centre of the preload adjuster. I can't see any further adjustment..I want to know for sure so that I can rebuild them with the correct oil level etc...are they SE?

2.
The little brass damping adjuster in one of the forks has been wound down tight into the preload adjuster, it has been tightened so much it has a mullered screw slot and to top it all off it is probably corroded into place. So far I have stripped it all out, tried heat and WD40...oh and I swore at it a LOT this afternoon, but it is staying put!..any tips for removing the awkward blighter!!

Cheers

"SE" Preload & rebound (little brass screw)
"SP" Preload & rebound (anodised blue rebound adjusters)

Can I check with you Andy (just before I order one up), the component we are talking about is 51454-KV3-781.

Actually I found out all about this component in another thread, apparently the blighter I am looking for does not come available as a separate component, it is attached to the damper road assy...

Anyone know if a CBR400 or anything else fits the bill? Image enc.
