Exxhaust Seals

Thu Sep 24, 2020 12:55 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

Just bought exhaust to cylinder seals Part # 18293 KV3 004 for an MC28 engine. They seem very thick compared to the seals that were on there. they are the same thickness as the flange so i end up with a butt joint and fhe flange does not fit into the opening.

Measurements of the 2 different seals are:

ID OD Thickness
Installed 44.1 mm 55.5 2

18923KV3004 43.5 59.4 6 ( the steel part only, assuming the copper parts will crush flat)

Am I ok with those seals? I have no idea of the ones installed were correct.

Are you installing aftermarket or original exhausts? If they are original and you have the oem gaskets then they must be right.
They do crush a certain amount when installed.

Hi - I have a 96 MC28 and replaced my exhaust seals using the 18293-KV3-004 seals which fitted perfectly into the cylinder head exhaust flanges. The seals that you currently have appear to be much smaller ( 4mm) ??
I live in Burlington Ontario and you can contact me at 905 920 8473 if you have any further questions
