Any one joined the VJMC and still a member - the paperwork has a TDR250 and an R1 on the front which is heartening but inside it’s then packed with tons of 1970’s CB’s, kettles and alike
If you have to have a beard, only drink real Ale whilst waxing lyrical about wire wheels, Drum brakes and life on the road in the late 60’s and early 1970’s I’ll keep my pennies in my pocket and jog on.
At £30 I’m kinda expecting something decent and we’ll run
I did join up, but couldn’t really give any feed back as I’ve not been to any further meet ups since that day! Seemed a decent crowd, but the guys I met on the day were definitely more 80’s focused than 90’s.
My rational was I’ll probably save a bit of money on insurance next year, it gives me a reason to drag the bikes out and go places and lastly they do do a decent job of keeping the classic bike community alive.
We're starting to become the old duffers now though, so what was originally more a '70s club, that's currently more an '80s club, will soon enough be a predominently '90s club I reckon.
Some members here certainly have here a passing interest in some '70s and [early] '80s bikes; RobH and PaulG spring to mind, but I'd wager many of us don't really have an affinity with them as that's not generally what we got to ride/lust after in our teens. I, myself rode a £75 '70s SS50 at 16 (that put me off bore-strokes for life!), and a 1984/5 MBX125F at 17, but I lusted after an NS125. However, by then the MC18 was a thing, and bought to my attention by Performance Bikes magazine, and from that day an NSR was the only bike I ever wanted, so '90s it is for me! My '80s interest is the NS250 (and to a certain extent, the MVX250) due to it's significance in the NSR's and HRC's history.
As Tom says, they do a pretty good job by all accounts, so once my MC21 is finished (and I've lost a few kg!) I might consider joining too. Maybe we can make it an NSR club! 😁😁😁 _________________ Andy.

Sounds like it’s worth a punt - having looked back at old threads looks like RobH of this parish is a member,
As Andy points the 60’s and 70’s era is slowly giving way to the 80’s and 90’s as the demographic of members change, apart from a mate who owned a AP50 I’ve never had any connection with anything from the 70’s era, and that AP50 was a P.O.C but for a 50 it was as fast as hell in comparison to my ER50
On a different note - Thats one pampered MC28 ^^ looks like it came off the production line within the last few years
René teased me with a couple of photos of my MC21 this evening, and I'm already getting ideas above my station! I'm hoping we can get a bit of a gathering together at an event/VJMCC stand next summer. I am sure Daz Seggar would be up for bringing a nice MC16, RobH and Nick with the R2J and R4J respectively, Phill with his R5K SEED, PaulG's R6K Terra, my MC21, and Tom's MC28 would make a complete set. Mine's a bit too modified though, so we need to entice someone with a more standard bike. Maybe Tom Sewell with his Rothmans will be up for it.
I know of several, yes several, TT-FIIIs that are eager to get displayed too, but that's as much as I am allowed to say about that... said Forrest! 🤣🤣 _________________ Andy.

That would be an amazing and varied line up especially with your Cup Noodle
We should really try and make it happen- to see the NSR lineage all in go would be something else
correct me if I’m wrong but the other big three - Kawasaki KR1/KR1S Yamahas TZR and 3MA reverse pipe version plus Suzuki RGV’s all lined up together would probably amount to the same number as the NSR range MC16 to 28
VJMC discounts are useful if you remember to use them. There's a great deal of knowledge and contacts for repair and restoration. Quite a few events to go to, but most of them are public anyway. I'm not into showing my bikes.
I haven't been riding much this summer as my knee has been playing up. I guess that must qualify me as an old duffer. _________________ Why do things simply when you can complicate them

Yeah, I wasn't thinking specifically of "showing" the bikes as such, just that it might be convenient to (a) pick an occasion where they would also be participating, and (b) nice to get a chronological line-up of relatively standard [looking] bikes. It was getting difficult at one point finding standard bikes, but more and more seem to be returning them back to [near] original now.
The OCD in me really wants to see a "red" and/or a "blue" stock line-up! Don't see many blue MC16s though. _________________ Andy.

I have been a member for a few years, always worth it just for the discount you get on your insurance. They also do dating certificates at discount prices for members as well as a regular Tansha magazine which is written by the members.
Mainly older bikes as you say but as our bikes are getting near to the 40 year old age group then more and more interesting bikes are being featured
