sounds like the seal has fallen out of the oil pump draining the oil tank into the gearbox , don't run the bike cause there will be no oil to go thru the pump

too late mate! already simutaneously seized and detonated the motor. Twisted Evil
you mean the small seal under the 2t pump, right? it was still there when i took it off. what shouyld i look for?
im just lookin to fix the problem now so it wont happen again. I think i may need a crank for it...definetly needs a new top end also. at least i just got me a spare motor. maybe ill turn this one into a 300???? or even go with the 268cc setup. Idea
mahalo!

This is not exactly a common problem, but it's not unheard of either! Rolling Eyes

It will indeed have been caused by the oil seal under the injector pump "moving".

The seal itself is not actually available from Honda and is a strange size, but it is apparently a size used on a number of jet-ski/wave runner type motors, so take the pump along to a good bearing/seal specialist or water-sports dealer, and they should be able to match it up for you.

A thin smear of silicone/RTV on the outside of the seal before you press it back in should hold it in place securely.

As a word of caution, and easy to say with hindsight, I make sure the oil tank on my MC21 is ALWAYS topped to the brim - even topping it back up after a little jaunt to the beach and back. Therefore, if the level when I come to the bike is EVER lower than fully topped up, I would know it needed investigation before riding!

Andy.

The beach and back? Where do you live then? And how often do you pop to the beach in Blighty!?

Dave, I've only ever once live more than 2 miles from a beach and that was next to a lake and Sebring Raceway in Florida (so only 50 miles to Vero beach on the Atlantic coast!)

In Thailand the beach was at the bottom of the garden!

Right now I'm back in Devon (the county with the longest coastline in the UK!) and about 1.5 miles from the closest beach!

I work just 3 minutes from the beach so EVERY trip home is via it - just to make sure no-one has pulled the plug out!!

Just to top it off, I've not had the roof up on the car for 2 weeks now too! In fact, I'm not even sure if the roof works any more!!!!! :D

Andy.

Oh, and back to the topic... sure John, if you manage to pick the seal out without damaging it, a smear of silicone should do the job.

Lucky sod. I'm in Swindon, about as far as you can get from the sea! Saying that, I think the most you can get from the sea in the UK is 76 miles.

That would be great for plug chops!! :)

The tower could tell you humidity and air density/pressure etc., then you could have a little book of settings - just like the pro's!!!
