Clutch

Wed Aug 17, 2005 12:45 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi all,

My clutch won't bite. When i hold it in and roll the bike it doesn't move easy/freely like it should.

I have tried adjusting the cable as people have said, and I have adjusted it at the bars and under the engine to max but it didnt do nothing...

Any ideas? Confused

You've got conflitcing evidence there.

Do you mean it won't bite - engage - or it won't release - disengage?

Sorry...

I mean that when i put the bike in first, and hold the clutch in, then try to roll forwards with my feet, it won't move easy like it should.

Yeah sorry about that...

Disregard the previous post... I'm bad at English..

Cheers

hmmm.....it slots into first quite nicely i think...i have taken it for a ride and it does seem a bit harder to shift than my other bike.

the clutch cable has a few fibres worn/broken near the bars...could that area be stretching when pull the lever? so its not fully engaging the clutch?

Doh!

Yes you muppet! Change it now - it'll be dragging inside the liner and making clutch operation much worse.

Does it drag when it's running and in gear ? does the bike want to go foward in other words ?
When it's not running it will feel that way, just went thru the same thing. Bought all new parts, took everything apart and couldn't find anything wrong. Put it back together and it worked fine. If it has been sitting a long time a little rust on the steels can make it act-up. Hey if you need new parts for a wet clutch MC21 I got them.

when its running and in gear...yeah it tries to go forward with the clutch held in.

the bike has been sittin for about 3 years so....maybe i should give it a few more runs soon after the rebuild and see what happens first...

cheers

I took mine apart and lightly cleaned the steel and it was fine.
