Hey Barry, some time ago.... I found info on the net about MK-I and MK-II PGM-II's (MC 1Cool. I can't remember where, when I have some more time I'll find it and post the site's address. I believe it's got something to do with speed restriction becoming law in Japan in 1989. When I get the bike back from the machanics I'll be able to send a pic through.

I'm a smart arse, but not smart enough to know the answer to that! I know the PGM 2 and 3 are different, as the 3 uses a throttle position sensor.

Anyone know? Matt perhaps?

What we have is:

NSR250RG (MC16) - Pre PGM. This uses two CDI units with seperate RC valve control unit.

NSR250R2J or R4J (MC18 '8Cool - PGM CDI unit. Three additional boxes control RC valve

NSR250R5K or R5K2 (MC18 '89) - PGMII CDI unit. Integrated RC valve control.

From '90 on we all know the story.

I don't have any PGM numbers for the NSR250 R6K and there doesn't seem to be any literature out there. So I have to fail on that one. Maybe the R6K is the dodgy one?
