Hi Guys and Girls, After a lot of messing about and some help from Bad Baz, I've got my Mc18 working! After it not charging the battery, it was the rec/reg. I have got a new one, not a honda one as they wanted neally the same amount as my bike is worth! The only problem is there is only one red wire coming from the reg, and I have 2 wires to connect to a red and a red and black. To get it going of sorts, I have only connected to the red and black wire, but it seams to work and charge the battery, but now the bike can only be switched of by the kill switch! The key only switches off the lights! Any Help? Also It does seam to hold back at high revs, I checked the power valves and it was making a buzzing sound from the servo and when I move the cables it stopped and then it moved the power valves back and foward? I have disconected the servo and move the power valves to fully open, it seams to go ok if you rev it. It will not damage the bike?
what's the reg\rect from & where did you get it, you could end up burning the entire loom out by connecting none standard parts. ps i think my r\r is knackered also, & want to know where to buy one & how much .
Hi there, I got my Rec/Reg from a place called ****** in Kent, It now works well, charges and does the job, but the wiring on the bike had been messed about so it was v v hard to conect the new one, thats why I have wire left! The new one was bigger than the stock honda one, so had to mess about to fit it. I rang a few place and the prices went from £25 for a secondhand one to over £100 for a honda one. Mine cost me £45.
You can get the actual NSR250 part from any UK Honda dealer if you quote them the part number.
People have used reg/rec's from other models in the past either because it was difficult obtaining the original part (in the US for example, where I believe a "common" exchange is for a CBR600 item) or because they believe it is an "upgrade"; this still remains to be proven though. _________________ Andy.

At the end of the day, a regulator rectifyer simply has to convert the wildly fluctuating AC voltage coming from the alternator, into a steady DC voltage just above 12, in order to keep the battery topped up.
First job is to rectify the voltage to DC, then regulate the level to keep the bike electric systems going.
Almost all reg/rects work on our small bikes. It's only the bigger bikes with heated grips and the like that need more power. _________________ MC21SP Plaything
