newbie oil question

Mon Oct 03, 2005 10:15 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hi guys...

my MC21 SE is drinking heaps of 2 stroke oil. Seems i have to top up the reservoir about 1 per fuel tank.
Is that normal? Thanks...

maybe they should make a newbie forum for me =( I did a search and came up with so many irrelevant things.

if it helps, my bike did a round trip of 200miles and i used 1ltr of oil, she was toped up before ride and then during and at the end, total 1ltr, dont forget the tanks bigger than it looks, when i bought mine i though id run dry but found that the little tank at the side is the tip of the iceburg so to speak...there is a bigger tank under the tank that the little one feeds.

cheers

Just a thought ?

How is your gear oil ? The seal in the injection pump can fall-out and fill you gearbox. You might not be burning as much as you think !

a tip i learned from our Andy about this is always top your oil back up to the top after a ride, that way you will know if the seal has gone when you come back to the bike the next time. Very Happy

When you say topping up do you mean you're putting in like 500ml? Or is it taking loads more? Check the adjustment of your oil pump as well. Could be that its pumping way too much http://tech.nsr-world.com/nsr/nsr-all/oil-pump/
