I can't get a spark on the top plug, the coil and plug are ok cos i swapped them with the front and got a spark there. i cleaned the terminals but no luck. i couldn't print off the wiring plan, is the members section up and running? i stuck a tester into the blue/black wire on the front and got a hell of a belt when i kicked it over but got nothing from either wire on the top coil. could the pgm be goosed? i hate electrics!!!

sounds like youve got a knacked cdi.
swap cdi's over,and see if the problem
moves to the other plug.
pray its not the cdi,they are rarer than hens teeth.

take the tank off,you will see the power valve servo unit with four cables running from it.under neath you will see two square boxes,about 3 inches long with plug connectors going to them.just swap the plug connectors over,and if one of the cdi's is goosed.it will swap from the back plug not firing to the front plug,or vice versa.they are not compatable with mc18,mc 21 etc,because they use pgm units .i have seen cdi units for a mc 16 fetch £70 on ebay,and i paid £45 for a pair.

found a new cdi at the local honda dealer, £110 next day delivery!!. went to fit it today but now the kickstart is knacked. it moves to take up the freeplay in the spring and then it is solid, locking the gearbow so that i can't even bump start it to find out which cdi is fried. the engine and box are both free to spin when the kickstart shaft is removed. has anyone had this prob? it seems the smallcog on the shaft is jamming against the casing on the inside and not letting the big cog spin freely.
