Im changeing the sprokets and chain on the se as there fecked, the rear is proving to be a problem, the 5 bolts have come undone no problem, the cover has come off BUT the sproket appears to be attached to the 5 nut type holders that go insid the cush drive and the 5 bolts bolt into, the new sproket dosent have this so im assuming i use the old ones, problem is the 5 nuts looke to be attache dto the sproket and they refuse to more, any idea if there suposed to come off, or can i but some more from somewhere, is there a bike it shares the cush drive and mounting dowls with... any help firstly to the dowls/nits come off if so how, push fit? screw? and failing that where can i get some? Cheers
ah so they do unscrew????? weird the ren renthal sproket hasnt got any thred on it to screw them back in??????? so there not push fit... Hmmm ill have a go. ta!
The parts you are referring to are pressed into the sprocket. You'll need to press them out. A couple of sockets and a good bench vice shoud do the trick!
Use good sockets (or a piece of bar and a socket), as the buggers are bloody tight! _________________ Andy.

RIGHT they may be push fit but these are gona be nearly impossiable to get off ive got a vice, and i have tried using the socket method andy said, they just aint moving (okay i used my old sh*t sockets) its broken 2 sockets so far, im thinking it may be cheaper to buy 5 new sproket holders, the parts manuel dosent list them unless there part of the cush rubbers??? but can anyone recomend a place to buy some? other than honda? i see tyga do some but it says rubber not sure if itll include the threaded metal sproket holder to mount the sproket on to......... these have clearly been on since new, the sproket (monkey has seen the se sproket) is mince and needs changing! so this has to happen, i cant sell the bike next year with fecked chain and sprokets cheers
I had the same problem and ended up using my impact wrench to get them out... It tore the sproket when it came out. I've only seen aftermarket ones, Renthal etc, without them, so not sure. I had a new Honda one to stick on though, although I was aiming to use an alloy Renthal at the time. Be interesting to find out what you're supposed to do with them! _________________ NSR300R - Why did i ever have a 250...
yup ive got a renthal waiting to go on which is why i want the holders out....YOU must be able to buy new ones either as a kit with the cush drive or indavidually. im gona try and make a pully system with a large old socket and a long bolt that fits and see if i cant pull them out !!! but i need a back up so anyone who knows where to buy them please chip in thanks1
FECK feckety feck feck feck...... a 7 ton press later and they popped out, these are definatly an interferance fit im not sure they are suposed to come out but they are now, should see the shape of the old sproket Mr Honda Dealer down the road pushed them out for free but was convinced that i should use a honda one....Oh well he warned its a bit harder than it looks well it was for me
