It may be something ive missed or something has happend but its happened to both bikes, I have recently swaped accross the gearboxes, all went well and there all back together now, BUT, on both bikes the netraul light dosent work anymore, Both have just had the splice done but this shouldnt make a diffrence right!! as the netraul wire is untouched, can anyone shed a light on this i know some of you have done a dry clutch swap over???? did it happen to you? Id like to know whats happened, do the switches (GPS) need swapped too? anyway any help would be great! thanks
Yeah i saw that in the parts diagram....MMMM im wondering if when i pushed the G box home it didnt line up with the sensor! Ive got one out now, but tried to make it work and it didnt, Just relised that now its detached from the case its probally not earthed. DOH, ill try again tomorow and see how i go, every thing else is working fine, just need to find out whats causeing this because if its the switch then the splice for the 4th 5th and 6th gears wont work, and im not sure how the bike will run!! if the pgm dosent know what gear you are in!!!! cheers fontyyy, ill keep looking!
Whenever you change gearboxes, pull the GPS out before you refit the box, as it's almost impossible to line up the sensor with the cutout on the selector drum when you reassemble.
It's an extra step to the job, but it'll save headaches.
Once the box is back in and tightened up then it's an easy job to line up and refit the GPS.
Is it possiable ive stuffed them, can you still buy new ones? im guessing that they may be stuffed, ill try first but might buy new ones for pieace of mind! TA!
It's unlikely that it's broken. I've encountered a few that have had the locating pin bent or broken, but once the pin is replaced and the GPS refitted I've never had one that didn't work.
If it is broken I doubt you'll need to buy new as I bet there's a bunch of used ones out there surplus to requirements.
Ok, so at this point im gona ask!!! What if it was removed? what would happen (apart from no nuetral light) to the ignition mapping in the PGM? as far as its concerned youd never select a gear???? intresting, And alos mat, i took it out and played with it, with ignition on and couldnt get the netrual light to come on, is this because it wasnt earthed? Cheers await an intreting (MAYBE SUPER MC21 POWER UP ANSWER NOT) answer
I had this problem with my bike.
Eventually found the pin had slipped into the switch shaft enough to not locate in the selector shaft slot.
Once I sorted the pin, I found the neutral position (if I remember correctly) by holding the switch against the engine case whilst turning the switch shaft slowly & watching the neutral light.
I`d checked the bulb was ok first.
Once I found the right position, made sure the bike was in neutral & refitted the switch.
Works a treat now.
Well, On the R (My Pride n JOY) the pin had snapped, i managed to make up a new pin and all is ok NOw. PHEWWWW!!! on the other hand the other bike it was a little bent but thats all and onec straight i could not for the life of me make it work .....I dont know whats wrong, Ill check the bulb next and all wiring! Oh well
