MC21 & USD Forks..

Fri Jul 23, 2004 8:10 am » Post: #1 » Download Post

Hey guys Smile

After many moons i have just pulled out my old MC21 and started to rebuild it again.

I am thinking of using Tyga pipes & GP bodywork for that custom look and wanted to get some USD forks to up the eye candy.

I have a friend who has some USD forks from a TZR and they seem to be a good price.

So if anyone has any info on if this a option or am i better off trying to source RS USD forks?

Any help appreciated 8)

They won't be Honda if that matters to you. Other than that I don't see why they won't work as well as anything - the bike weights are similar. How about the lengths?

Thanks for the reply.

Yep i was a little worried about having a yammy bit on my bike.

Will wait for a nice pair of RS forks before taking the plunge.

Might be worth considering the RVF front end - that's upside down too. I take it you wanna mod the bike for looks rather than performance?

I had planned on going Tyga GP pipes, Modded airbox & HRC jet kit, full GP body kit. Done the wire splice and the cylinders have been cleaned up as its a X racrebike.

I was hoping for the low to mid 60's for HP, but assumed a USD transplant would help the handling over the stock units ( it has non adustable suspension).

Thanks for the RVF tip, will have a look around. Would they need to be re-valved for the NSR?

Thanks in advance.

Blue Smoke.

Yeah, the RVF weighs in at about 170kg, whereas your racebike will be more like 120 dripping wet.

To be honest if all you want is performance, get hold of some SP forks, and have them overhauled. Mine were just incredible once I'd had 'em done. Like sliding the front lap after lap on GPR70's without crapping myself incredible...

E-Bay has some SE forks at the moment, if it is of interest, although for that price I'd go with Nigel's set up if it could be found!

no affiliation, just passing it along.

Cheers,
