Coming soon to the Marketplace...

Thu Jan 05, 2006 2:59 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

We'll be doing spark plugs soon, and I'd like to know what the interest is like please.

Expect to see BR9ECM and BR10ECM, and the "shorty" HRC plugs in 10.5 and 10. I will try to get 9.5, but I can't guarantee it, and they won't be cheap!

BR9ECMs will sell at £4.75 each with free shipping to the UK. That will save around £2.50 a set of two at normal retail price.

The short plugs will retail at around £19.50, but it's yet to be confirmed.

Silicone NGK Racing plug caps for both BRxECM and the short plugs will be available at a discount too, but I will have to post a price later.

All comments welcome. Who's interested, and in what?! Smile Please remember that every purchase in the Marketplace goes toward the upkeep of the Site, and often goes toward expenses for NSR-WORLD events, as those who came to the first Dyno Day will attest!!! Wink

Cheers.

This is where I have to say I'm rather ignorant - sadly not the first time thats been said Shocked .

Should I be replacing plugs based on mileage covered, or should I take 'em out and inspect for some sign that they need replacing, or will the engine starting / performance tell me when ???

My bike is stock '96 MC28SP, except for M Max race pipes. Not sure of the airbox has been modified / drilled - I keep meaning to check but haven't got the tank off yet so don't know. Would I be best off with the standard BRM9ECM and 10.

What would the "shorty" HRC plugs do for me?

BR9s are the standard plugs, the shorty plugs are for bikes with the HRC front head conversion.
as for replacing the plugs i do mine every couple of 1000 miles.

bought some yesterday DOH Mad

Don't I need a 9 and a 10? Can't remember which one goes front and which one back - suppose I'll know that when I take 'em out.

Sorry - just read CheekyMonkey's post again re. BRM8 and 9:

"When i took the plugs out of the NSR last night i noticed that the previous owner had put a 8ECM in the front and a 9ECM in the top. Could there be any other reason other than he was to tight to buy the 9s to do this "

I'm even more confused now Confused

Andy will you also have the BRM8?

I guess the first logical step is to see what is currently on my bike. Is the rear plug OK to get at? (Spot the newbie Razz )

If my bike runs good now, presumably I should replace with the same spec plug. At least till I get this tinkering bug someone mentioned...

In 99% of applications, the stock BR9ECM will be fine in both cylinders.

Some modified engines may want to go to BR10ECMs, depending on the combustion chamber temperature. It starts getting a little technical, but there was a recent thread about it.

The greatest benefit of the HRC plugs to most people is the clearance to the stock bodywork. The plugs themselves will produce a more focussed high energy spark, but the heat range isn't best suited to a stock motor. You don't have to be running a head conversion to benefit from them however, and if I can get the 9.5s then they will be fine in a stock setup.

Oh, and I just changed my mind, the greatest benefit will be the Poser Points once the new page is completed and published!! Laughing

Out of interest, how much did you pay for them? You can lie a bit to make NSR-WORLD look good if you want! Laughing

I was bullied into buying the right plugs after the last Dyno day, but I do need a new front cap.

Andy, on the subject of the market place, you got any HRC rectifiers in yet?

Colin NSR you don't want an '8 plug full stop, the rear plug is no problem once the tank is off, '9s in front and back will be fine for a std bike. The shorty plug is supposedly needed for the rear head on the front cylinder conversion but it's a lie, the plug and cap are around £40 as well Shocked

Try getting a stock plug and cap inside the stock bodywork then!

Yes, they are expensive, but I'm doing my best!!

More HRC rectifiers coming very soon.
