If you recall, I was the one that had the power loss problem at under 5000 7000 rpm. That proved to be just a loose connector and was a pretty easy fix. Now as I was just riding on the highway and turning off onto my exit, I was downshifting and somehow the shifter went too far down and got jammed against the kickstand. So at this point I was stuck in 1st gear.(Heavy traffic at the exit). As I slowly got to the next stoplight, I promptly tried to fix it by pulling the lever upwards with my hand. <---bad choice. The bike is now stuck in either 4th or 5th gear and I am no longer able to shift up or down. I had to ride like this for another 5 minutes or so before I made it home. Smell of burnt clutch everywhere.
Now my question for you guys is, do you think it can be fixed? Or do I have to have it replaced now?
Is it something as simple as the gear shift lever rotating on the shaft? My FJ is like that (though at 90,000 miles it's allowed some wear!) and I simply have a huge nut and bolt on there.
If the problem is inside the gearbox, then it's a slightly different matter. You'll need to remove the gearbox and replace whatever it is that's bent or broke inside - and I'd suspect it's the selector lever. Not too hard if you're confident with spanners, as the whole box comes out in one go without splitting the crankcases.
Have a look at that shaft first though... _________________ MC21SP Plaything
