is there a fill indicator for the gear oil.
like on the RGV there is a bolt you remove and once oil comes out you know you are full.

I couldn't find it on the nsr with dry clutch.

That's because there isn't one!

The RGV boys need someone to hold their hands every step of the way, where as us blessed Honda owners are trusted to use a measuring device!!

The transmission shouldn't "use" any oil, and therefore shouldn't ever need topping up! Read the Specifications Page, drain the transmission oil, and refil with the specified quantity.

There is actually a dip-stick cast into the filler cap, and there is a diagram of it elsewhere on the Site.

there is no dipstick on my filler cap so I must not have the OEM.

how often is the oil changed. I'm guessing it would be less than that of a wet clutch bike.

If it looks like this: then it's NOT broken, that's just how the NSR dipsticks are.

NSR's are very easy in the gear oil department.

Set the bike as upright as possible, standing on it's wheels and fill up the gear oil until it just hits the bottom of the filler cap threads. Job done. No need to use the "broken" dipstick on the filler cap, you can see it quite easily.
