crank bearings

Tue Oct 05, 2004 12:44 pm » Post: #1 » Download Post

hello
up to now i have kept this to myself but i think it is time i came out............
i am not running koyo bearings in my crank Surprised Shocked Surprised about 6 months after i bought it the crank seized on me at about 65mph just as i sat up out of a knee draggin bend..oh yes scary (stephen Wink ).
anyway i have a friend in notts who owns a bike shop Granby motors in beeston, he had the bike for about 2 months and finally managed to source some bearings that were the right size, with the cut out thingy you need and everything, i know he wouldnt have bodged it cos that is why it went in the first palce and he is a close friend. when he took it apart to look at the crank someone had bodged a bearing that was the wrong size into the crank, worry that it was the wrong size not this bodger simply get the angle grinder on it Mad .
well all this happened about 3 years ago and i have done trackdays at donnington and cadwell on the minibeast and many a sunday showing up 600s around the local lanes.
if anyone wants anymore info just reply and i will have a word and see if he can remember where the bearings came from. Very Happy Very Happy

Well... of course we're interested! :D

Nigel had a crank done at the end of last year for his Mugello Replica, by Chris Appleby. From what I understand, that was with alternative bearings too, but Nigel wasn't told what application the bearings were from.

The bike's still running strong as far as I know!!

Of course, if you can source the correct bearings for a reasonable price (and there is an advert at the top of the list in Classifieds!), then it may make sense to use the genuine OEM parts.

i only did the bearings thing because it was befor my years of discovering NSR-WORLD so the only info i could get was " cant buy the correct bearings, gotta buy a crank complete" if i was to do it now i would defo use the bearings for sale on this site, as although i know the bike is good, ive done 2 trackdays.......but i have that little niggle in the back of my mind........you didnt use the honda part....

we shall see, she goes well and i have the cbr for the track now. i will have a word with my mate but it was a couple of years ago though.

I didn't, but I have now!! :D

Crank Bearings for sale here

Please bear in mind that NSR-WORLD.COM is not selling the bearings. We only authorised the seller to advertise on our Forum. The link is on the main page because we consider it an important enough find to warrant a front page ad!
