Introductions, Mick and have just picked up an NSR track bike to race around some local circuits in Townsville. I picked the bike up for a grand an MC28 and although it runs really well, it was laid down and needs to be tidied up, some of the bikes from the gallery are absolute horn! Time to make it faster and tidy it up.
So I’m looking for good place to start looking so I can source some rear sets and some other bits and pieces. I’ve looked around a bit and seem to have found all the Japanese sites known to man. Is it cheaper to try and source them elsewhere and post them, or try picking them up in Australia.
I would also like to ask your collective advice on how to get the most out of the bike. I’ve read the manual and all the de restriction bits and pieces, and am fairly certain that all those have been done, after all it is a track bike, I’d like some experienced campaigners to pass on your tuning tricks.
Anyway that’s the beauty of these forums talking to a huge audience with a big pool of expertise and knowledge.
Take care Mick. _________________ MC28 Track Bike

Oi Matty, What size valves do you run in each cylinder? 30mm inlet 24mm exhaust ...... Because my rides missing the valves altogether!??! Please advise............ HEHEHEHEHEHHEHEHEEEE _________________ ........."I love the smell of 2-stoke in the morning.......Smells like victory"............
nsr imports runs from the rear of the frangston suzuki (vic) shop. Marty (owner) doesn't seem keen to help anyone with parts at the moment (trying to sell nsr business- $150k worth of parts + 8 bikes apparently, for approx $30K ), so perhaps try southern for parts....
hope this helps..... _________________ ........."I love the smell of 2-stoke in the morning.......Smells like victory"............

That (along with the rest of the paraphernalia that goes with it, i.e. an entire 4 stroke engine system!) will certainly cure it of it's biggest problems!
But on a more serious note;
Hello and welcome!
Track bike eh? '28 eh? Good man.
Fancy bodywork and aftermarket bits are easy, it's either Tyga or pay a fortune to source Japanese bits.
But tuning wise firstly lets see what you've actually got;
Has it got aftermarket pipes?
Has it got an HRC smartcard, if so which one (010, 020, 030 or some fancy HRC special?)
Is it running standard carbs and/or any form of airbox?
Until we know this it could be making anything from 40bhp to about 65bhp, maybe more if it's had internal engine work.
And Andy can we have a rule stating new members MUST post a picture of their bike? _________________ Please do not PM me technical questions, if you can't find it on the Forum start a thread
Well it's red, and it's dented, and the owner/ rider has a crook hand, because he fell off!
But from a spectators point of veiw, it goes well, sounds good. Injuries fixed, more practice on the gokart track we use under lights , it should be up with the VFR's.

Yeah, expansion chambers and carbon fiber silencers, not certain about the quality / restriction on the internal of the expansion chambers
Has it got an HRC smartcard, if so which one (010, 020, 030 or some fancy HRC special?)
The card has PGV I think it's either a 4 or 5 iV think four on it, not certain of brand and the like
Is it running standard carbs and/or any form of airbox?
Not certain about the carbs, I was thinking about getting a jet kit because they were pretty gummed up from sitting but the local bike shop got them sorted
As for air box, standard air box, was thinking of getting like the spongy ones but had a few issues with the air box and idle before it went to the bike shop and obviously haven't had the chance to tinker since with one hand and all
As for getting back out there, can't wait but work want to take me back down to Brisbane, and I’m not sure of the track and racing scene down there!
Racer7 I’m assuming you race out there but not sure if we have met, missed the meet on the weekend due to a wedding, but will definitely be out for the next.
He's spot on the bike is red, was dented before I took possession I patched up the fiber glass alas they are a bit scuffed and cracked, but that’s cool and the hand is busted, I had to have the bone running from my pointer knuckle to the wrist pinned / wired and they removed some floating bits, yep I did a great job.
I’d love to post a picture but this forum is set up a bit differently from the other I’m a member of could someone give me a shout out hoe exactly to do that??
